Union Education Minister Announces Twice A Year Board Exams For Students From 2025-26

The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on 20th February 2024 announced that class 10th and 12th students have the opportunity to appear for their board examination twice a year. This will be applicable starting from the academic session 2025-26. One of the key aims of this decision is to reduce the academic burden on students according to the new National Education Policy (NEP). The Ministry of Education in August last year announced the New Curriculum Framework (NCF). According to this curriculum, the board examination will be held twice a year to ensure that students have enough time for the preparation. This will also give another chance to the students to retain the best score.

He highlighted the concept of some bagless days in the school every year. Pradhan emphasized engaging students with art, culture, and sports among other activities. He said on Monday after launching the PM SHRI  (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme in Raipur, Chattishgarh. According to this scheme, 211 schools in Chattishgarh will be upgraded.

The option of two board exams will empower students and reduce their stress," stated Pradhan, highlighting the government's commitment to holistic education. This move has received positive reactions from students, educators, and parents. They are looking at it as a step towards a more progressive and student-centric approach. The announcement marks a significant change in the Indian education system. The coming years will reveal how this policy impacts student performance, academic pressure, and the overall learning experience.
