NMC seeks feedback on PGMER 2023, with a PG admission exam scheduled for March 2024.

To ensure students' physical and mental well-being, the Council has directed that students be requested to work for reasonable working hours and be given reasonable rest time during the day. The National Medical Council (NMC) has requested stakeholders to comment on the Post Graduate Medical Regulations (PGMER) 2023. As of currently, the Council has not issued a definitive decision on whether NExT or NEET PG would be offered beginning of next year. However, the exam-NExT or  NEET PG — will be held in March, with results expected in the first week of April.

According to the official schedule, the first round of central therapy will take place from May 10 to 20, while state counseling will take place from May 20 to 31. Joining deadlines for round one are May 31 for central counseling and June 5 for state counseling.

The second round of counseling for the all-India level will take place from June 1 to 10, with the last day of reporting on June 20. State counseling will be held from June 11 to June 20, with registration closing on June 30.

Round 3 and the online stray vacancy round will take place in July and the first few days of August. The classes will begin on July 1, but students will have until August 10 to register.
The registration price for government institutions is Rs 25,000, which is waived for SC, ST, and OBC candidates, while the fee for private and deemed colleges is Rs 2 lakh.

The NMC has also informed all postgraduate students that they will be required to work as full-time resident doctors. To ensure students' physical and mental well-being, the Council has directed that students be requested to work for reasonable working hours and be given reasonable rest time during the day. Furthermore, PG students enrolled in broad and super-specialized degree programs have been instructed to keep a dynamic e-log book that must be updated on a weekly basis with information about their job and training program. MS/M.Ch students must provide details of surgical procedures that they aided or performed independently. The postgraduate guide who is delivering the program will check, analyze, and authenticate these log books on a monthly basis.
