The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the examination schedule for JEE Main 2024. Students aspiring to pursue engineering, architecture, and planning courses in esteemed institutions can begin preparing if they haven’t already. The first session is scheduled to commence from January 24 to February 1, followed by the second session from April 1 to April 15, 2024. While the official registration date is yet to be released, candidates should anticipate the application process to commence in December 2023
To be eligible for JEE Main 2024, candidates should have completed their Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their core subjects, or be in the process of doing so. It is to be noted that the 75% criteria in Class 12th has been reinstated. General/OBC candidates need to secure a minimum of 75% marks, while SC/ST candidates require a minimum of 65% marks in Class 12th or its equivalent to be eligible for admissions in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.
The examination will be conducted in an online, computer-based format, requiring candidates to respond to 75 out of 90 questions. The syllabus encompasses topics from both Class 11th and 12th, aligned with the NCERT/CBSE curriculum for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Class 11th chapters constitute 40% of the syllabus, while Class 12th chapters carry a weightage of 60% in the examination.
Continuing from the previous year, students will have two attempts at JEE Main 2024. NTA will consider the best score for candidates participating in both exam sessions, offering an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities to the fullest.
